Scouts honour for KTSOT accountant
An accountant from one of Wales’ leading accountancy firms ktsowensthomas has been appointed treasurer of the Board of Trustees of The Welsh Scout Council, the governing body of Scouting in Wales.
Clara Rich, 26, from Llantrisant takes up the position, as well as that of a Trustee, on the Board for the next three years alongside her role as client manager at ktsowensthomas which sees her work on a number of charitable accounts.
Having been involved in Scouting for several years as a volunteer with the Beavers, Cubs and Scout sections, when the prospect arose to apply for this position Clara saw it as the perfect opportunity to continue her involvement.
As part of her new voluntary role, Clara will be responsible for producing and managing the annual accounts including the preparation of budgets and forecasts, attending board meetings and preparing and delivering quarterly management reviews for trustees of the organisation, which aims to encourage young people to reach their full potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves.
On her appointment, Clara said: “Scouting in Wales offers over 13,000 young people and adults in Wales the opportunity to challenge themselves and experience things they’ll never forget. The organisation plays a very important role in helping develop young people in local communities and I am really looking forward to taking on my new role within the council and continuing its success in Wales.”
Gareth Williams, chairman of The Board of Trustees said: “There was some very strong competition for this role and I am really pleased Clara was successful. She brings with her a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the sector and will undoubtedly be an asset to the board. We are very much looking forward to working with her. Her appointment also reflects on ktsowenthomas' approach and policy towards corporate social responsibility and its involvement in community affairs. We are grateful to them for their support.”
